ANIMATION IN PHOTOSHOP

  1. Download the two photographs I sent you via email.

  2. Open Photoshop and create a new document:

    Choose Film & Video
    Choose
    1920 x 1080 @72 ppi
    Window ---> Timeline
    Choose Create Frame Animation

  3. Create 5 frames.

  4. In the hamburger menu on the timeline, choose New Layers Visible in All Frames.

  5. Select the first frame and drag and drop the sky image into Photoshop:

  6. Adjust it to fit the frame.

  7. Click into the hamburger menu again and this time, deselect New Layers Visible in All Frames.

  8. Keeping your first frame selected, drag and drop the image of the person into Photoshop:

  9. Choose the Object Selection tool and drag it over the figure to select and separate them from the background.

  10. Once selected, create a mask.

  11. Select the second frame in your timeline and copy and paste the previous layer with the person while holding down shift as you paste (this ensures that the image pastes in exactly the same part of your canvas.)

  12. Reveal the layer.

  13. Right click on this last layer and choose Convert to Smart Object.

  14. Go to Edit --> Puppet Warp Tool

  15. Create your points, make changes and hit Return / Enter or the Check Mark on the top toolbar.

  16. Proceed to the next frame and copy paste this last layer. Again, hold down shift as you paste.

  17. You will see the Puppet Warp as a filter under the layer. Double click it to make changes for the third frame.

  18. Repeat till the fifth frame.

  19. Adjust the timing for all frames until you achieve the speed of movement you like.

FOR FUN:

If you'd like, you can change up the background colors to add some movement to your background.

  1. Uncheck the background layer for frames 2-5.

  2. Select frame 2 and copy and paste the sky image onto another layer. Reveal it.

  3. Create a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer.

  4. Right click on it and choose Create Clipping Mask. This makes sure that that adjustment only applies to the layer directly below it.

  5. Play with the sliders to achieve a color you like.

  6. Repeat with frames 3-5.
